- The Esencia Yaiza red from Bodegas Vega de Yuco has been the only wine from the DO Lanzarote to be awarded in the 'Agrocanarias 2020' contest, which has obtained the Silver Medal in this event, to which 173 wines from the 11 appellations of origin of the archipelago.
Bodegas Vega de Yuco is back in luck. Its Esencia Yaiza red wine of the Listán Negro variety has been awarded the Silver Medal of the official wine competition ‘Agrocanarias 2020‘, Organized by the Canary Institute of Agri-Food Quality, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Canary Islands Government.
173 Canarian wine labels from the eleven denominations of origin existing in the archipelago, attended this regional competition. This red from Lanzarote has been the only one from the Island of Los Volcanes to be awarded in Agrocanarias, which represents a step forward for this variety and type of wine in Lanzarote, which is gradually making its way also in the red market, each time more recognized and in demand, beyond the excellent Malvasía Volcánica wines that are produced and elaborated in Lanzarote.

A wine matured in oak barrels from the best cooperages for about four months that has been subjected to strict controls to finally obtain a quality product like this, details the Winemaker of the winery and author of the wine, Tomás Mesa Guanche, which also reports on the technical characteristics of this wine "highly recommended to discover the red wines of Lanzarote, representing this unique variety, in its form of cultivation, of the archipelago”.
Violet tints have a high middle layer that turns over time in a ruby hue. On the nose it is elegant and varietal. The marked personality of the black listán is fused with certain notes of toasted oak wood, red berries, toffee and coffee. A wine that is deep and deep at the bottom and on the palate denotes its Atlantic character, fresh and with a smooth and clearly unctuous mid palate.
