The winery expects a dry white 'Yaiza' production of around 15,000 bottles in its first bottling
Bodegas Vega de Yuco plans to conclude the current grape harvest in Lanzarote in the coming days. Although there is still some grape to enter the winery, he confirms that “the grape production figures this year will be somewhat lower than those of the last harvest of 2021”.
During the harvest, the winery collected grapes from more than 250 winegrowers on the island, mainly of the Malvasía Volcánica, Listán Negro de Lanzarote, Diego and Moscatel varieties, with which it will make its new wines.
As a result of this current harvest, which began at the beginning of July in some areas of the island, due to the small heat wave that precipitated the collection and maturation of the grapes for a few days, the winery already has its first bottled Malvasia wine Volcanic of the current campaign of 2022.
The dry white 'Esencia Yaiza' is once again the first wine from Bodegas Vega de Yuco this year to go on sale, for the Canarian market, before the island festivity of Our Lady of Los Dolores, patron saint of the island of Lanzarote. As has become a tradition for the winery, its intention is to once again thank the Virgen de Los Volcanes for the result and quality of the grapes obtained in this vintage.
Specifically, from this Monday, September 5, it is beginning to be marketed and distributed on the island of Lanzarote and will gradually be incorporated in the rest of the islands and markets with which the winery currently works.
From this first bottled wine, he expects to have an estimated production of about 15,000 bottles of Yaiza Essence (Dry white Volcanic Malvasia).
TASTING SHEET | Essence Yaiza 2022wax
The Malvasía Volcánica monovarietal essence Yaiza It is a dry white that represents the most genuine expression of Lanzarote's artisan viticulture. Upon arrival at the winery, the Malvasía Volcánica, from different plots on the island, passes through the grape selection table where only the best bunches are selected by hand. Then, the selected Volcanic Malvasia is fermented in steel tanks using cold maceration techniques, producing a highly expressive wine that is characterized by its freshness and great aromatic personality.
This wine is pale yellow in color, with clean tones that denote its freshness and youth. From the first moment surprising for its freshness with fruity touches and aromas characteristic of the Volcanic Malvasia of Lanzarote. Gradually it evolves into a assemblage of tropical and white-fleshed fruits, such as fresh melon, ending with notes of citrus and orange blossom.
A complex and perfumed wine, with high aromatic intensity. The entry into the mouth is very smooth and light. It looks fresh and alive. A wine with balanced acidity that invites you to enjoy it again on the palate and that is liked by almost all the people who taste it.
It should be remembered that this wine won several awards in 2021 such as the gold medal Agrocanarias, the silver of the prizes Bacchus and bronze medal in the prestigious and international Decanter, the latest titles added to his track record since his birth in 2005.
