· 13 students access one of the scholarships for university studies outside the island
Bodegas Vega de Yuco collaborates once again with education through scholarships for the study of «It is the commitment of all, companies, entities, administrations and society, in general, to support -as far as possible- the excellence and young talent of our island. Now more than ever". Thirteen university students will benefit this year from aid whose amount, in the 2024-2025 call, amounts to a total of 50,000 euros. Likewise, the Mercedes Medina Association has established, for this same course, four other one-off study grants of 200 euros.
The purpose of the scholarships is to acquire basic cultural and academic university training so that students can continue their studies or begin them at the main Spanish universities. They also have the objective of contributing to the expenses of maintenance and residence outside the island of Lanzarote.
They are awarded directly, according to the academic record, the income and assets levels of the scholarship recipient's family unit and the special circumstances of the people who request it.
The financial amount comes from the Association's own funds and the altruistic collaboration of the companies Taba Control, Cabrera Medina, Spar Lanzarote, Comunigestion, Fundación Líneas Romero, Graciplus and Bodegas Vega de Yuco. Companies that, in most cases, have been contributing to education and young talent on the island of Lanzarote for years.
The scholarship award ceremony took place in recent days at the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture, in Arrecife, with the presence of representatives of the companies, members of the association's board of directors, teachers, students and family members of the scholarship students and public officials from the Arrecife City Council, Lanzarote Council and the Canary Islands Government.
