• The Order of the Canary Puppy rescues and supports the cultural and agricultural memory of Lanzarote with the edition of the book 'Agrarian heritage of Lanzarote and forgotten gastronomy' by José María Barreto Caamaño and Marcelino Tejera Toribio.
Bodegas Vega de Yuco collaborates again with the Order of the Canary Puppy and the recovery of the historical and gastronomic memory of our island. On this occasion, supporting the first edition of the book 'Lanzarote's agricultural heritage and forgotten gastronomy' by José María Barreto Caamaño and Marcelino Tejera Toribio.
A jewel book about our gastronomic culture, landscape and agricultural heritage that includes a compendium and collection of photographs by José María Barreto, accompanied by texts and relevant information about our resources and agricultural landscape.
The book also includes a small recipe book of traditional spoon dishes, some recipes from the sea and the land, all of them contributed by Marcelino Tejera Toribio. In this edition we can find, for example, the recipe for a pea broth with eggs, a pea or dog fish broth with scrambled gofio, a mixture of old seca or a cherne la sal, among others.
José María Barreto He has designed and developed numerous thematic exhibitions on the natural and cultural heritage of the Canary Islands, mainly aimed at the educational field. He has also edited several books on these same topics. All texts and photographs in this book have been donated by the author altruistically.
For its part, Marcelino Tejera Toribio He is a great chef and master of chefs. Of humble origins and native of Tinajo, he is part of the first generation of professionals on the island who trained at the Las Palmas Regional Hospitality School.
The book will be part of the bibliographical collections of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and will be available to those interested through the website of the Order of the Canary Puppy.
