The Vega de Yuco winery stands in the middle of Lomo de Tese, integrated into a valley of vineyards, volcanic ash and some white houses with traditional architecture that dot the idyllic wine-growing landscape around Masdache (Lanzarote, Canary Islands).
It was founded in 1997 and is part of the Wines of Lanzarote Denomination of Origin and the Canary Islands Wine Tourism Cluster. It currently produces and produces more than twenty different wine references, recognized for their extraordinary quality, from grapes from more than 250 growers from different growing areas on the island.
With the strength and identity of Lanzarote, its wines are also a faithful reflection of the rich varietal heritage of the island, with the Volcanic Malvasía, Diego and the Listán Negro grape as predominant varieties in its elaborations. They are a caress of sensations with a strong personality, complex, unctuous, aromatic, fresh, pleasant and full of nuances.
From the premium range with the line Princesa Gara, to the recognized essence Yaiza of singular design and blue bottle, the references of this winery are completed with its first line of wines Vega de Yuco; the freshness of the line Riscos de Famara and with fine bubble semi-sweet wines + Roof. Vega de Yuco also offers a varied range of traditional liqueurs blackberry, herbs and even coffee, sweet wines and muscatel Famara, a muscatel liqueur wine with a tradition of more than a decade, Aurum, and a Ecological Volcanic Malvasia of certified farms.
Princesa Fayna is the latest jewel of Bodegas Vega de Yuco. The first sparkling wine from the winery. A brut nature made from 100% Diego grapes, from a plot located on the slopes of the Juan Bello volcano in La Geria, aged for 30 months. It goes on the market in April 2022 with a small production of only 600 bottles, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the winery that took place on April 23.
The winery has a small store where it offers a sales service for all its ranges of wines available on the market. Hours are Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It also has online sales through your website corporate, www.vegadeyuco.com, with distribution to the Canary Islands and all of Europe. It also offers arranged visits, prior reservation and availability check through its website in the wine tourism section.
He is currently in the process of opening his new wine tourism project, Finca Testeina, located in the Protected Landscape of La Geria, just two kilometers from the winery. In its commitment to preserve the heritage of the island's viticultural, agricultural, cultural and heritage culture, it undertook this project to recover and rehabilitate the farm and the historic house (16th century) that is presented as an open space for enjoyment of different and innovative wine tourism experiences and as a unique and singular space on the island of Lanzarote to host group events, weddings, congresses, meetings and incentives. The winery plans to open this space to the public soon.

The origins of Bodegas Vega de Yuco go back 25 years. Today it is presented as one of the reference wineries in the archipelago, one of the largest in production in the whole of the Canary Islands. Two decades marked by the excellence of its renowned wines that in a calm, discreet and humble way have managed to position themselves beyond the borders of the eight islands.
25 years of experience marked by several relevant milestones in its journey since April 23, 1997, the date on which it was established as a winery.
Without intending to, Rafael Espino, owner and current manager of Bodegas Vega de Yuco, backed by his professional experience in the sector and his academic training (as an Agricultural Engineer and specialist in Agricultural Economics), began to make the wine that years later would become one of the most recognized wines of the Canary Islands and of the DO Lanzarote.
On that April 23, 1997, the winery was established with provisional headquarters in a small warehouse in La Vegueta, in the "Maretón de Yuco" area. Tinajo area that gave the name to the winery.

Rafael Espino Curbelo – Bodegas Vega de Yuco
The Agricultural Engineer and specialist in Agrarian Economics, Rafael Espino Curbelo, is the young businessman who runs one of the most outstanding wineries, for its recognized wines, of the DO Lanzarote. At 54 years old, Rafael began his career in the wine industry in 1997, with the foundation of Bodegas Vega de Yuco. His passion for wine culture is inherited from his grandparents, who are strongly linked to Lanzarote's agriculture and vineyards. Passion that he combined with his academic training at the E.T.S. of Agricultural Engineers and at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he later completed his higher studies with a Master's Degree in Auditing and Business Analysis. During his career he has also participated in various institutional, academic and teaching projects. His participation in the Preliminary Project on Biological Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture of the CCAA Madrid and the elaboration for the Cabildo de Lanzarote of the "Study on the feasibility and constitution of a regional winery" (1998) stand out. The Advance of the Agrarian Plan of Lanzarote (1997), was also under his direction. He has collaborated as a technician and advisor to other wineries and has taught various courses.
