When some wine regions of the northern hemisphere have just started their harvest, Lanzarote not only concluded it, at the end of last August, but it already has its first bottled wine from the recent harvest of this 2021.
Bodegas Vega de Yuco is once again the first winery in Europe and in the entire northern hemisphere to have its first bottled wine this year, of the Malvasía Volcánica variety, genetically recognized and exclusive to the Island of Los Volcanes.
This year the winery has collected grapes from more than 250 winegrowers who trust each year in Bodegas Vega de Yuco
to transform the fruit of a whole year of effort and work in the vineyard.
As it has been tradition, his intention is to present again this September 15 the result of all this effort to the Virgin of Los Dolores, Our Lady of Los Volcanoes
, patron saint of the island of Lanzarote, to thank you for the quality of the grapes and good harvest obtained this year, despite the weather conditions, heat and fine rains of these months, which forced the winegrowers and wineries to bring the harvest early .
Of this first bottled wine from the Canary Islands, Bodegas Vega de Yuco expects to have an estimated production of about 15,500 bottles of Esencia Yaiza (dry white
). It will be marketed -fundamentally- in the eight Canary Islands and in the traditional markets of the European continent, through its distribution channels and electronic commerce. Esencia Yaiza, along with other wines from this winery and others from the Lanzarote Denomination of Origin, also has a presence - incipiently - in other target markets such as Japan and Iceland, where they have begun to internationalize their wines.
It should be remembered that this wine has also garnered several recognitions in 2020, such as the silver medal of the Bacchus awards and the bronze medal in the prestigious and international Decanter, the latest titles that have been added to its record since its birth in 2005.
