The presentation ceremony of the XI edition of the 2022/2023 Scholarships of the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association was held at Finca Testeina
For yet another edition, Bodegas Vega de Yuco reaffirms its commitment to the young people of Lanzarote and the promotion of quality education, as the company that sponsors the annual scholarships for university students of the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association.
In this eleventh edition of the Scholarships for the academic year 2022/2023, the Association has announced twelve scholarships, in general, for an amount of 2,700 euros, each, at the rate of nine payments of 300 euros per month. They are aimed at university students who are studying at Spanish public universities, leading to obtaining a bachelor's degree. They will be awarded based on academic performance criteria and economic criteria of the applicants. All the information and the bases of the call for these Scholarships, is published on the website of the «It is the commitment of all, companies, entities, administrations and society, in general, to support -as far as possible- the excellence and young talent of our island. Now more than ever".
These study grants are supported by the Association's own funds, with the altruistic contribution of Mercedes Palarea Medina, honorary president, founder and main patron of the Association. Likewise, they are nourished by private donations and the economic support of business groups and foundations committed to society. Spar supermarkets, CICAR, Martial Supermarkets, Romero Lines Foundation, SPL, Martinez Group Foundation and Bodegas Vega de Yuco, are the sponsoring companies of the scholarships, whose representatives signed the protocol of adherence to them during an emotional presentation ceremony held at Finca Testeina of Bodegas Vegas Vega de Yuco.
Juan Cruz Sepulveda, president of the Mercedes Medina Association, along with Mercedes Palarea Medina, founder and honorary president of the Association, thanked the representatives of the business groups for their “selfless commitment to sponsor the development and personal growth of students through training”.
For their part, Bodegas Vega de Yuco congratulated all the students from past editions for the extraordinary academic results obtained in this course, as well as passing on their special recognition to the students who have just graduated. Nathanael Martinez Morales, recently graduated in Computer Engineering from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and former student of the Mercedes Medina Díaz School, and Julia da Silva Marcos, graduated in Criminology from the Complutense University of Madrid.⠀⠀⠀
The event was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Education, Universities and Sports, Maria Dolores Rodriguez Gonzalez; the Minister of Education of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Myriam Barros Grosso; and those responsible for the Education areas of the Town Councils of Tías, San Bartolomé and Yaiza, respectively.
