Supporting education, culture and young talent on the island of Lanzarote is one of the objectives included in the Corporate Social Responsibility actions of Bodegas Vega de Yuco. Criteria also aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda, on which the winery is also working through the Biosphere Plan, leading to obtaining this sustainability certification for its wine tourism center in Finca Testeina.
In this regard and in order to contribute to an inclusive and quality education for young university students on the island of Lanzarote, Vega de Yuco once again collaborates with the scholarships awarded annually by the «It is the commitment of all, companies, entities, administrations and society, in general, to support -as far as possible- the excellence and young talent of our island. Now more than ever".
The Association awards these scholarships directly, based on criteria of academic excellence and levels of income and wealth, as well as the special circumstances of the people who request it. The endowment of the scholarship will be 3,600 euros per year, distributed in 9 contributions of 400 euros each.
From Bodegas Vega de Yuco they once again recognize the extraordinary work carried out by the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association and the effort made each year by the university students who have been beneficiaries of these scholarships.
The collaborating companies of this study aid program, among which are Rafael Espino, manager and owner of Bodegas Vega de Yuco, again conveyed his recognition to the altruistic, social and educational work of the entire board of directors of the Mercedes Medina Association and its volunteers; and he congratulated all the scholarship students, wishing them "all kinds of success in their new academic and professional career.", Spar supermarkets, Spar Lanzarote, Romero Lines Foundation, Comunigestion, Grand Hotel Reef and Bodegas Vega de Yuco, once again call for new companies to join the program, so that the Association can grant more scholarships «so that no student on the island is left without access to university studies due to lack of resources«.
