In this month of October, Bodegas Vega de Yuco once again organizes the Synesthetic Tasting 'Princess Fayna', but on this occasion the wine tourism experience will be carried out with a Drunch of trend, the afternoon adaptation of the "brunch" (dinner-lunch) to see the incredible sunsets of La Geria from Finca Testeina.

'Princesa Fayna’. A Brut Nature with 33 months of aging, made by the traditional method.
The activity is completed with a tasting menu of tapas, as a snack_dinner, made with products from Lanzarote by the northern chef Nauzet Santana Barretto of the , daughter of the aboriginal queen of Lanzarote Fayna who also gives her name to the new brut nature of the winery. These two stories will also pair with rosé of Puerto del Carmen.
The drunch includes some seven elaborations that will be paired with the same Princesa Fayna sparkling wine. It will start with a ‘Bellini’ cocktail made with Brut Nature Fayna and peach, followed by a Bloody Mary with prickly pear and blackberry liqueur.
Among others, they could not miss some local and quality delicacies and products, such as Don Nicolas cheese from Finca de Uga with homemade tomato jam and a mini beef burger with almogrote cream. Seafood cuisine also bursts into this menu with a surprising mini dog on soft brioche bread with octopus, spicy and aromatic mojonaise. An explosive combination that pairs perfectly with Fayna sparkling wine, to continue with a pressed octopus carpaccio with garlic and paprika emulsion. The famous San Marcos cake versioned with gofio meringue from Lanzarote ends this tasting of tapas prepared for the occasion.
The event will be held this coming Friday, October 7, at 6:00 p.m., and its duration is estimated at about three hours, approximately. Places are very limited, since the experience requires a warm, welcoming atmosphere and personalized attention, which is why the winery recommends making the reservations in advance.
He also recommends wearing comfortable shoes for the guided tour and something warm for these October afternoons when it's starting to get cooler in the La Geria area.
Do you know what a synesthetic tasting is?
Synesthesia is a mental process in which we relate the stimuli of one sense (taste, smell,...) with another. In the case of the new wine tourism experience at Bodegas Vega de Yuco, the sense of hearing is related to smell and taste, through music and a blind wine tasting -with a mask- to further enhance the active senses .
To do this, the winery has defined the aromas, flavors and, among other factors, the sensations and perceptions of the Princesa Fayna sparkling wine to identify them with their respective sound timbres, harmonies, melodies and rhythms. With this, an original musical work of about ten minutes has been created, produced by the Canarian composer and musician Samuel Miranda.
Incredible as it may seem, when listening to music not only the ear is put into action. A part of the sense of smell also goes to work, activating certain regions of the olfactory bulb based on the music being heard. Similarly, if we are enjoying a wine, taste is also put into action.
The music play (Fayna Rhapsodies 360º) is created with cutting-edge sound technology that also produces a three-dimensional sound effect, developing a sound-emotional environment that facilitates an incredible tasting experience.
In short, the result is that during this tasting not only is this sparkling wine enjoyed, but each person feels immersed in a very personal and individual experience full of emotions and sensations, and more, in a unique environment such as Finca Testeina. and the Protected Landscape of La Geria.
Get to know Finca Testeina
In addition to enjoying this unique and pioneering experience in the Canary Islands of synaesthetic tasting, the event will begin with an interpreted visit to the vineyards and stately home of Finca Testeina. During this visit, attendees will also learn some information about what agricultural activity and the landscape were like before and after the volcanic eruptions of Timanfaya (1730-1736), the historical and ethnographic values linked to the important culture of water on the island, very present in this house, and the history that hides behind the walls of the Testeina farmhouse, whose first documented references appear in the 16th century.
